Ever since my childhood, I have been doing jigsaw puzzles. I currently own around 100 of them and mainly of Railways & Tigers. Three days ago, I finally got to finish a 1,000 piece one of the 'Flying Scotsman after over a week of trying. The loco and base were quite easy, while the sky, steam and smoke was a Real pain trying to complete and at one stage, I very nearly threw it, but persevered and finally finished it.
Three days ago, I started yet another 1,000 piece and this time I did the sky first, yet put the last piece in tonight about 11.30.p.m..
The scene was of some place called Leigh-on-Sea and somewhere in Essex. ;D

Well done, Mikkel, and I can well believe that the smoke and sky was a pain elsewhere ;D
Have you ever done a round puzzle? We have one, Sis gave it to us years ago but we never managed to do it. The pieces are strangely shaped, not like in normal puzzles.

'Leigh-on-Sea and somewhere in Essex' ;D ;D
Well done mikkel, sounds like you do them very quickly?
O/h likes to do those 3D jigsaw puzzles, the globe shaped ones, but getting the last piece in proves to be difficult.

Yes Dag, when I really set my mind to them, I can generally do one in a couple of days.

I've seen those 3-D ones and I think they would be a real nightmare to do! How on earth do the pieces stay in place? Are the joining edges slanted or is glue used? ;D There must be some sort of holder or they would roll all around and off the table. I think it would be a great drawback not to be able to start in, say, two corners. Or like I tended to do, try to get the whole outside frame done first.

Although Mrs.DAG said they are not as bad as the double sided jigsaws that have very similar scenes on both sides...........now there is a challenge! ;D No glue, and nothing keeps them in place so can easily fall apart and of course it gets very difficult at the end as you cannot get your hand inside to stop the piece from going right thro', ha ha! I will continue this thread over in Hobbies to show Mrs.DAG's work, although it is not her hobby, but here is my youngest grandsons effort which he has half assembled as it will give you a better idea:

Here is the one of the Flying Scotsman that took about 5 days to complete. Three days/nights just for the sky, smoke and steam alone, yet worth it in the end. Now I have completed the Leigh-on-Sea one (photo yet to be taken of it) of 1,000 pieces and going to frame and hang on the wall, my next one is 1,500 pieces of Southend in the 1950's, but need my larger board for.

Double-sided jigsaws? Never heard of them but I agree about such being a challenge. Thanks for showing me what a globe-shaped puzzle looks like, DAG. No, double-sided and globe-shaped jigsaws would be nothing for me, I'd go mad! Mikkel, that Flying Scotsman puzzle is Extremely well done, what patience to take on and complete such a one. And in only 5 days too! It would be a shame to break up and put back into the box.

I had a double sided jigsaw years ago, coloured one side and b&w the other.

Mikkel, looking forward to seeing that jigsaw puzzle of Southend in the 1950s, will bring back memories of my youth as I frequently visited here although living in London at the time.

Slight delay at doing this one, I regret to say. I got my largest board out that I do 1,500 jigsaws on and it was just 2 inches too small downwards and I had almost all the edge done before I found out. Directly I get a bigger board, I will make another start on this.
