That's the second one it happened to. I have one of Chester in the 1800's that is 1" too big for and the board was made especially for this size jigsaw, when they were all a standard size. Now it seems, they vary depending on the manufacturer.

As promised, a jigsaw of Southend back in or around the 1950's. as you know, I have a 1,500 piece one of this, but this is a 1,000 that I got in a charity shop on Monday and completed it just before 2am this morning, so as to get a photo of it and get it on here for all to see. Just round the corner and on the left where the lorry is waiting to exit, we used to get a Rossis' ice cream before catching the train home to Laindon as a kid.

Oh mikkel, you have made my day! It all looks just as I remember it too! Now of course the whole high street is paved over, I must take a photo of it from that position, seems strange to see traffic there now! The train on the bridge would be coming from Shoeburyness and on its way to London (Fenchurch St.) Garons were everywhere in Southend, and there used to be plenty of single and double decker trolley busses (with tinted glass to cut the suns glare) all over the Southend area to replace the old trams and I thought they ran down the High Street but see no evidence of it there. Do you remember those mikkel?

Sorry Dag, I can't remember Trolley-Buses down there, but do remember the buses and lorries, plus obviously the steam loco and it might just be the number of the one I stood on almost 60 years ago.

Never mind, thanks anyway mikkel and for the trip down memory lane.
I might be near where that picture was taken tomorrow and try to take a picture from the same point if I can and post it up before I go on holiday on Saturday.

Very nice, Mikkel. The first one looks like it was a lot of work finding the right dark pieces that fit.

Great mikkel, don't think I would attempt the first one but I quite fancy doing the second one. I havn't done a jig-saw for years but I used to get so far and let Arney do the hard bits! ;D
