Thanks Dan, that sounds interesting must give that a go, only thing is every leaf on the Gherkin plants have got it so probably too late for that, but at least worth it to stop spreading to other greenhouse plants.

May be it is too humid in there have you enough ventilation Dag? At this time of year I leave the greenhouse door ajar because my toms and Aubergines dont like it too hot or too humid. they are thriving and my chillies too .
If it is spreading you must get rid of all the effected plants.

Thank you for the link tamarine, and yes I have an automatic vent and a manual one and also a low level louvre and in any case I leave the door open all day every day.
The mildew has not spread to any other plants so far.

I beat you to that one Dan. we 've been having our carrots now 3 weeks baby carrots ofcourse. I put another lot in the second week in July and they are all up. These will be ready for October. Last year my carrots were a disaster.
Yours look super.

They look good Dan, I suppose with the quantity that you grow, storing them is quite a business? When the time comes, do you store them in damp ash or sand?
The best crop of carrots I grew were half wasted because I allowed them to get too wet and they went wrotten! ;D

They look scrummy, Dan!
We only tried carrots once, many years ago, and they were so bad that we never tried again. I think now that we didn't prepare the soil enough for them as they were all wonky.

I don't grow that many,about a 15 ft row,maybe about 20lbs or so. So I never bother storing any,I just leave them in the ground and take 'em when I want 'em

There was I thinking you would have tons of them! ;D So far I have been just lifting a few of those small carrots from the bowls that I am growing them in and just using them raw in salads and they have been fine, but wondering how long I can keep them like that, as we have not had much salad weather lately so have not eaten many?

I put my last lot of carrots in in July and now they are about 4" high. these will be ready in October. I will chop them up and freeze them.

Hi Dan. I was just over in your Allotment Diary catching up with the past several weeks.
First off, I'm sorry that you won't be winning the giant onion contest. Will you bother to enter any in it, or just go and look?
After looking at the pics of your squash, I think we must have the thrips too, as the leaves on ours look just like yours.
Otherwise, it all looks good and I quite fancy those peas, nothing like freshly-shelled peas with a little salted butter.

Well,since I am not going to grow any giants this year I've decided to pull a few onions up in readiness for dressing them for our local show in a few weeks. No monsters,these only about 2lb......still got one about 3lb growing in the tunnel.......pathetic. Got more stuff on my blog regarding dressing onions etc....
