I had to go into one of our two sheds this afternoon and the one where there is a portable gas fire, we were told works, but I could never get it to. I tried it again and Bingo, it worked, so now when I get fed-up on the computer (Huh!), I can go out and work on getting my model railway done in the warm.

I have just found the photo below and taken at our local station in October 1990. I am standing just to the side of the train as we waited for the Green to go and on to Cambridge. A later train we worked in the same direction, was delayed just after leaving Ely, due to 'An incident' as they call them and a young man having been hit by another train. The driver of this one and I found him very seriously injured lineside and he died early the next morning.

While his injuries were Very serious, he was still conscious when we found him, but obviously in Very Deep state of shock. Of all the passengers on board our train, only 1 demanded we leve him there and carry on after telling the emergency services where he laid. One leg was against the running rail, and we Refused to move that train.
Upon getting to Cambridge, the moaner went to the Station Supervisor and demanded he sack the driver and me Immediately because he had missed a Very Important Business meeting in London through us refusing to move the train.
At and after the inquest, we both got highly praised for our actions, and doing all we could to save him, thanked by the Mother, but blamed for the guys death by his father saying: "Had it not been for the train being there, my son would still be alive." The driver snapped back: "Your son should NOT have been on the track in the first place." Then the mother and sister dragged the father away after apologising to us first.
Going back to losing sleep over it, I lost very little to be honest, which I have to confess, did surprise me at the time.

Hello jc, sadly I couldn't make it after all and I am disappointed to say the least. Last night at 'The Club' I started up, we had another new member come along and with the amount of us there, it was a Lovely atmosphere, which makes us what we are. Due to the size of the meeting room and being in a Private House, we are now looking for another place to hold it because once we had the boards together including the new extention, there was very little room to move. I have been to look at another place and now trying to enquire as to whether we can rent it. If we do, we wont have to keep taking the layout apart every week. It can stay together until we go to an Exhibition. Because the hoped new place is not used as far as we know, it has a spacious car park of its own that is guarded by a high gate and padlock, plus heavy front door and grills up the windows, so it looks pretty well secure, to say the least.

Very sadly, we have been given 3 months to vacate the current premises, the one I looked at is Not available as we had thought, but, we do have the offer of another and so holding our AGM there tomorrow night and if agreed by the members, we could well move within the next two weeks. If we do, it will be on display to the General Public, (Minus any rolling stock, or vehicles) when they visit the venue for other reasons.
We are currently in the process of building the extention to it and another 8 feet making the length 30 feet in total and need to get it finished ready for 3, possibly 5 Exhibitions this year alone, with the next one just a couple of months away.

Sorry to hear that you have to vacate your current premises, mikkel. Fingers crossed that it works out with the other one.
Hope you will post some pics when you get the extension done, and/or of the planned exhibitions.

We held the AGM and still not decided one way or the other as to the move, but I must admit, I worded the reason for the move slightly wrong and only rightly offer my apologies. We are NOT being kicked out as it may read, we have been ASKED to leave as soon as possible, but preferably by July. IF we can't find another venue, then we will be required to dismantle the layout every week until we do find another and we need to avoid this as much as is possible.
Oh by the way, yours truly was as expected re-elected Chairman. In fact the entire committee were re-elected. Faith or what?

As you are aware, I am Chairman of the Wisbech & March Bramley Line and from where the idea of Wisbech Model Railway Club was started. The first photo below was I will admit, taken in 2008. The site was identical to this this morning when the Track Clearing Team arrived at 09.30. Now look at the same site, when they left at 14.00. Not bad eh, for 4 of us?

The Man Is Like A Train
At 20 years he is like a local, it stops at every station At 30 years he is like the special, it stops only at the large towns At 40 years he is like the express, it stops at the big cities only At 50 years he is like the locomotive, it often stops for water At 60 years he doesn't leave anymore, it remains....in the yard
