I have been a Rail Enthusiast since early childhood and loved running models of them, whether at home, or in a clubroom.
When a child, Mum and Dad could only afford to buy me clockwork train-sets, but like all kids, I wanted an electric one. I was in my teens before finally getting one and very much to my surprise. That soon ended up being extended and laid on a 8'x4' board, with scenery added. A couple of years later, we moved and so it had to be packed away, where it stayed for many more months before I could run them again.
In 1971, I moved to Kings Lynn in Norfolk, where I very soon learnt there was a Model Railway Club and invited to go along. I joined that first night, staying until it was sadly forced to close in May 1987.
In the 1990's, a Rail Enthusiast Group was started up in Kings Lynn and so I very soon joined that, going to different depots, travelling on many different trains, but sadly that too had to close down due to a lack of enthusiasm in the running of it.
Late in the 1990's and following my marriage break-up, I moved to Wisbech in Cambridgeshire and in 2005, I joined the Wisbech & March Bramley Line, a Group started up in 2003 with the intention to reopen the now disused 7.8 mile Railway line between the two towns. After the first meeting I attended was over, I enquired about the local Model Railway Club and where they meet? I was told it had closed down many years ago, but in reality as I later learnt, the town had never had one.
Within an hour of getting home from the above meeting, I had headed notepaper, an E-mail address for it and set about writing to the then three local papers seeking others interested in forming a club and a place to meet & build a layout. Literally, in less than 4 weeks, the first meeting was held and now almost 3 years later, we have our first Exhibition to attend with our layout on 23rd of this month and in Norfolk, followed by the possibility of another the week after and in Cambridgeshire. The latter are leaving it a bit late to confirm it, but there is still time yet.

As for the Bramley Line, I am not just a member now, I AM now the current Chairman of it and we are progressing in our project, slow that it is, but we ARE determined to succeed. For this Group, there are two websites that are showing many details and some photo's. The main website is www.bramleyline.org.uk and there is the Supporters one at www.freewebs.com/bramleylinesupporters and I started up when the main one was frozen by a previous webmaster, because he was proved to be a Liar and so left the group fast.
