Looks good, Robert.
Just a question though - is oat bran oatmeal, like porridge?

Looks good, Robert. Just a question though - is oat bran oatmeal, like porridge? You could say it is, but its finer then your normal porridge. Goes under the name of Oat Bran in Tesco.

Snatched this from the www.....
There are three main parts to cereal grains: the bran, germ, and endosperm. The endosperm is the part of the grain used to make things like white flour, and it is the largest part of the grain. The germ is a small, nutrient rich area which is often extracted along with the bran, the fiber-rich outer husk of the grain. The bran is designed to protect the grain until it can sprout, providing fiber and nutrition to the growing plant until it can support itself.

Thanks for the info, Robert. Now I'll just have to look on the net to see what it is called in German so I can buy it.

I used to buy packets of plain bran flakes from the local health shop, as I understand it (from memory) it is very good for you fibre-wise that is, but it is not easy to eat/digest and tastes so boring as it is. Trick is to sprinkle a bit over other food so that it don't notice!
I see that the recipe above uses 1 cup and if that tastes good then go for it!
Arney said we will have to make that recipe but looks like a man spread the butter on it as it is not around the edges! ;D

A man spread the butter.. Quite correct.. I did as I usually do it and miss the edges. This way it does not get on your finger tips ! Just to clear up any misunderstanding over what Oat Bran is I shall take some pictures later and post. I would not want you to spoil this amazing taste sensation

I looked it up and it is Haferkleie, so now I know what to buy. Actually, I have bought it now and then over the past years as it is good to help keep the high cholesterol down, as it says in the pic you posted up, and which Peter unfortunately has. He usually just sprinkled it over his cereal or I added some to the porridge. I just got the Wikipedia link for it, so shall post it up here, hope you don't mind. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BranBut I don't like that bit about the slugs, aghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I read the artical and quote: "Bran was found to be the most successful slug deterrent by BBC's TV programme, Gardener's World." Thats a good tip that may be useful.

Robert, we made the mix for it this morning and it is now in the oven cooking...................... Arney said that at least you put a nice load of butter on it, even though you didn't spread it to the edges!

Just eaten half of it between us, and it is wonderful...........really! Only problem is trying to lose weight when it tastes so good! ;D Going to be making this on a regular basis, and Arney is so pleased with it, she didn't think she would like it and yet talked me into having a second slice tonight! Excellent recipe Robert and so easy to make, thank you!
