Just told Arney and she said "In an ideal world, I would like my crusts buttered as well - heaven - and I am glad that Alfie has learned the error of his ways!"

Just had another look at everyones Branny fruit bread - drool, drool. They all look so delicious that I think I could make a meal of such with a cup of tea.

Just tried the apple version and it is not so good as I can't taste the apple, only the cinnamon. I will try again sometime in the future with big slices of apple instead of finely chopped pieces.
Also I forgot to turn it down to 170 for a fan oven but only did it for 40 mins anyway but was still well done hence a bit dryer.
So back to the drawing board on that one, but it looked good! ;D

Arney has just tried the apple/cinnamon version and she said she likes it just as much! So that's not bad for a failure is it! It is fine but not quite what I was aiming at.

I bought the oat bran today, so just might start it off this evening. It even said Oat Bran in English so I know I bought the right stuff. ;D
I'll take some pics but you'll have to wait to see them as I still don't have my PC cleaned up of its viruses. Still using Peter's and he doesn't have anything like PB, etc.

The Branny Fruit Bread turned out well, we both liked it and shall definitely make it again. I put mixed candied peel and sultanas in. I think there were perhaps too many sultanas as it ended up rather sweet, but I thought I might as well use the rest up, not worth saving so few. I was thinking that chopped almonds or some of the home-grown walnuts (from the kids garden) would be nice, so shall do that next time. you for sharing this great recipe with us all, Robert.

Kedi, I would say that the sweetness came from the candied peel more than the sultanas.
Anyway, glad you liked the Branny.

Oh that looks tasty kedi, very nice! Arney just said "But there is no butter on it!"..............no doubt you will soon remedy that but us fella's have to consider our figure, he he! I was just thinking that as there is no fat/oils in the basic mixture at all, it is a surprizingly healthy option apart from the sugar. I don't have a problem with sugar so must make some more soon! P.S. Just thought, not such a healthy option if your spread plenty of butter on it!

Thanks guys.
Due to various reasons, I didn't make any jam last year, apart from a couple of jars. I usually make no end of it and jelly, also chutneys and relishes, not forgetting the liqueres. Shall remedy that this year. ;D
Arney - I put plenty of butter on just before I ate it, really nice and thick and right to the edges.
I have one question though - when you all make this, is it rather heavy? Since they don't have SR flour over here, I have to add the baking powder. I put a heaped teaspoon in, perhaps I should use more next time?

Not heavy kedi, no! I couldn't manage anything heavy or greasy like bread pudding now and I used to eat plenty.
Right, I had better send a plane load of self raising flower over to Germany then, along with some English sausages! ;D

Made another Branny Fruit Bread yesterday which prompted me to think about printing out the recipe and laminating it for safe and easy keeping. Printing it out onto an A4 sheet was easy enough directly on my computer but not so easy to do it for everyone else on the forum. So I had a think about making a standard template for Mother Earth Recipes as required and after experimenting, found the best option seems to be to create it in a PDF format so that it is easily viewed at any magnification you wish (without loss of clarity) and easily printed out onto an A4 sheet ready for laminating if required. As I happened to be using the recipe on this thread, I made this one up and posted the link at the start of this thread under the actual listed recipe, but here it is again: PRINTABLE RECIPE: www.freewebs.com/dagsstudio3/branny%20fruit%20bread%202%20pdf.pdfYour feedback would be appreciated.
