I have some Teak that I thought could do with a bit of carving. After I cut the first template there was an offcut just crying out to me, "Please carve me into a small spoon" So I did. You can see from the first picture where the small spoon was spawned from the large one I am now carving. The small spoon with carving finished and before final sealing and polishing.

Robert. It must give you no end of satisfaction being able to make all these lovely things with your own hands and the pleasure of using or admiring them afterwards.

Yes..you are so correct..the biggest problem I thought I would have is seeing in three dimension. But I seem to have got the hang of it. Its a great hobby to have to a cold wintry day. Many thanks for comments

Fine bit of craftmanship there Robert! Just wondering about a scaled up version that could be used as a wife beater?

Fine bit of craftmanship there Robert! Just wondering about a scaled up version that could be used as a wife beater? I think you would need at least a bit of 4x2 for that task ;D The spoon is now finished with just one coat of lacquer and wax polish

I thank you for your kind offer V, But I have to say I am spoken for and she says "No Way"... Shame , I rather fancy Portugal. Truth is Im keeping myself busy by doing all the stuff I did not have time for while I was working. My Gloria says to tell you that she wanted a new pedestal food mixer, so she picked one and she now complains that she cannot get near it as I am always using it!! So there I was honing my carving knives when a burst of sunlight reflected from the blade and gave me this picture.

Nearly finished my latest carving project.. A leaf bowl. It has taken me hours and I`m very satisfied with the end project. I just need to finish it, I shall probable leave it as natural teak and give it real good rub down to get some shine on it.

Wow, what a lovely shape, I really like that Robert! Is it 2 pieces with a biscuit joint and where did you get such a lovely piece of teak from?

Yes, its two pieces simply glued together. The wood is from an old teak door frame and is really fault free. Only wish I could get chunks of teak big enough to do it as one.

What I did want to achieve was a piece with no straight edges as straight lines do not exist in nature. The only level part is the base... I should maybe take one or two more pictures to highlight the curves?
