I thought I would show those of you who don't know where I live .... where I live .... This is Casadinho (pronounded Caza-deen-you) but we call it Casadee for short and which means Little House, when we bought it in August 1997 .... Here is a view a few years later .... And an aerial view a few years ago ... This is the lane to the property, the 'main' road (ha, ha) being about 200 meters away ... This is a view taken from about the same spot as the first and second photos ... The building to the left is the outdoor living room (the old chicken pen). Taken from the now dining area ... And this is the path from the kitchen patio alongside the Baffa down to the dining area and parking ... On top of the outdoor dining room (called the Baffa, an African word for meeting place) t'other half has built a deck ... so we can now look over the orange trees rather than through them .... I'll just end this tranche of pictures with a shot taken from the deck over the kitchen roof .... I haven't got any recent pics but will be adding from time to time, especially of my beautiful flowers.

Thank you for sharing Vicky, what a fantastic difference between the before and after and no amount of words can adequately describe the blood, sweat and tears that must have gone into it! I am sure that you and Jim must be very proud of what you have achieved. Looking forward to seeing more in the future!

Enjoyed seeing the pics again, even though we've seen them often in real, Sis. It looks like you waved a wand and the transformation took place, but I know what a lot of very hard work the two of you put in to make it look so beautiful. Perhaps it would interest the other members to see some of the Before and After pics.

Thank you DAG, scotkat, linda, Sis and Alfie. It certainly was a lot of hard work but now we can sit back and enjoy it. Sis, do you mean of the renovations to the inside of the cottage? I have to sort my photos out as since I've had the Fuji it automatically loads into a Fuji file daily by date and I need to transfer them to my 'filing system'. In the meantime, I'll treat you to two lovely shots of my favourite tree (of which I have two) .... The Jacaranda from the deck looking down to our entrance ... the light green tree to the right in the background is my fantastic almond tree ... .... and from the outdoor dining area over the archway with a variegated Podranea growing around the arch ... How strange, this system reduces portrait photos by 25% .... I noticed that yesterday. I use the same size for all my pics 480x640 or vice versa.

It's November and there's still lots of colour here ... actually, we have more colour now than in summer ... Pink Bougainvillea ... White Bougainvillea ... Three-colour Bougainvillea standard ... Tecomaria capensis ... Plumbago 'Royal Cape' ... The Honeysuckle is going into yet another blooming season (third this year) ... We dug the Cestrum 'Newellii' out of the ground as it was failing so I cut it back to about 30cm and stuck it in a bucket of water until I decided what to do with it. Well, it picked up, I potted it up and now it's starting to bloom ....

Wow, fantastic colour and a joy to see at this time of the year, all I have now is mud! ;D Love them all, but if I had to pick a favourite flower out of those, probably the Royal Cape, there again I don't know ........................they are all so beautiful! Thanks for sharing Victoria!

Yes, Sis, I did mean the inside. You could also put up the first pics of the Jacaranda, taken just a few years ago, next to the beauties they are now.
Love the flowers, although I am not keen on the white Bourgainvillea. The Tecomaria is always an eye-catcher, shockingly beautiful.
Strange, Peter's Cestrum also went off, we thought it had died, but then it showed signs of reviving, so he cut it back and it seemed okay when we left.

Thanks guys for the lovely comments.
Sis, neither Jim nor I particularly like white Bougies and they are not that common ....however, I'm doing a 'braiding' f three and white works well with a pruple and dark orange ... but it will take years for the show. Must say I planted one by the gate in 2005 when Jim went to the UK and I didn't and it's just decided to come alive but it goes white/pink/green flowers ... hope it lives ...
Thanks, Linda, the Jacarandas are two of my favourite pics.
Sis, I'll do something of the house transformation in another thread .... probably in the winter when I don't have anything better to do .....

Quote 'In our greyness'..........try coming back to England! ;D Wow, such wonderful colour and I particularly like the peach Hibiscus, a real treat on a day like this where it has blown my outside tomato plants down and it is too wet to do anything about it! Thank you Victoria you have certainly brightened my day!
