That really does seem to be the way to grow veggies. I don't think you've had a failure with anything, have you, DAG? I can see the Johnston Blue better this time and it looks a dream.

No failure this year so far, I am also hoping to grow some Cayenne Peppers this year but didn't start them off until rather late so I might get plants with no veg on them! ;D Here they are just before I potted them up individually today. I tried Gherkins again last year but they were very disappointing both in the growth and in the type which I didn't like once it was bottled. I also tried some miniature carrots 2 years ago and they were so small that it was not worth it in my opinion. Spring onions have never worked for me in containers and swiss chard we didn't like anyway that I tried last year.

The Gartenperle tomato plants in hanging baskets are coming on quite well, and so are the England flags in my neighbours garden! ;D

Today's update:
Well all the lettuce has been eaten several times over as it just keeps growing back again until it bolts.
Now I have started on the next lot that are ready to eat and replaced the old bowls with some fresh compost and sown the next lot today.
Arney insists that she don't want to buy lettuce from the supermarket anymore so I have been charged with keeping up a continuous supply!

Typical pickings fresh from the garden today, and before adding supermarket spring onions and tomatoes. The first of my tomatoes are almost ready in the hanging baskets, any day soon! The carrots are going well so far and of course more mixed lettuce is available. The PakChoi, my main item for the lettuce is still performing excellently, the red tub nearly finished and the other tub just recently ready.

That looks so appetitizing, DAG, and being able to go out and pick it fresh whenever you need it .... I must have another go at growing it here in bowls.

I decided to make big changes to the staging in the greenhouse today while the weather was busy with drizzle outside all morning. I removed the RHS staging completely and aim to use that next year on the LHS to make 2 levels. The homemade sandbox propagator is now laying on the floor where it can still be used next year when needed, but does not get in the way now. On top of that I have now placed 6 tomatoberry plants but not sure what kind of supports will be needed, as I am trying to grow them as bush tomatoes but the stems are very slim and seem to need more support. Not sure what these plants are going to turn out like so giving them plenty of space as there was not enough height when they were on the staging. There are 5 Sungold tomato plants in the corners compete with French Marigold whitefly deterrents.

It's all looking very good, DAG. Good luck with the Tomatoberries, I looked them up on the net and they seem to be well worth growing and they should love it in your greenhouse.
I bought a pack of lettuce seeds yesterday, couldn't find the mixed ones so just got the usual pick lettuce. Shall sow them either later on today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed that they grow properly for me this time.

At last the tomatoes are becoming available! 4 tomatoes last week and 19 picked this morning, the orange ones are the Sungold (the tastiest tomato) and the red are the Gartenperle from the hanging baskets. So I will start the count at 23 so far, sorry but I am a compulsive counter while I am picking them and like to record it for record purposes. ;D

Dag, I am absolutely envious of your beatiful and perfect little green house! I would so love one of those for winter growing. All of your plants look wonderful. I can't grow any lettuces here this time of year, way too hot. I can grow it in the spring and in the fall but not summer.

Nice going there DAG Your veg must be several weeks ahead of mine. Nothing seems as good as last year. I`m guessing because of the long / late winter we had. Runners are alot weaker than last year, peas are struggling, tomatoea are really struggling, But...onions are looking good and the potatoes look promising. Lets hope for longer summer then normal.
