jc, you are correct with the wood and it don't matter whether they are tubes or rods, I really don't know, could be either.
But the bad news is that I am not going to tell you what it is! ;D
The reason is that any moment now I shall withdraw it if nobody guesses and replace it with a new one, and the old one will go into another section called 'Unresolved Quizes' where anyone interested and wants to continue the challenge can do so, but for those that have given up there will be the new one to take its place.
If anyone has a photograph ready for another mystery object please email it to me and I will change it over.
Robert, the same arrangement could also be used for the 'What's Missing quiz if you wish.
