Mikkel, what are those plants that will hopefully keep the moles away? We could do with some of them over here too. JC. Sorry, but at this moment in time, I can't recall the name, so I will do my best to find out for you.

I notice you have hostas in your garden. I love them and their variety of colours. i have a collection of 8 different hostas. They do brighten up dark corners.

After this year, we are shifting them and splitting them so we can get more of them elsewhere in our garden. We had a mole problem, that has now thankfully gone and we have a new problem. Keeping b****y Jackdaws off the bird table and knicking all the food we put out. While shopping today, we found a whicker 'birds nest' and so bought it (£1) and it now hangs in one of the trees.

Last night out of sheer boredom on the computer, I went out to cut the grass in our back garden (none in the front yet) at 7.30.p.m., then ended up doing a lot of weed clearance there and the front, finally coming back indoors just after 9pm.
Just after 8 this morning, I was back out in the garden and replanting some seedlings, as our next door neighbour was trimming his conifers. By 9, I had replanted all the seedlings and continued to weed the garden. Then I went and cleaned the front up a bit more, including the removal of some nasty looking stinging nettles that I discovered. We have a Lot of work to do on the front garden and before it will look nice again.
When we exchanged for this place last year, the previous tenant apologised for the garden being in a mess, yet told a friend of hers she had left it in an immaculate condition. I think she needs to visit that famous optician and not the one we had a letter come here from for her.

Unfortuantely, not only us, but our neighbours as well, are being overun with some strange weed that no known weedkiller WILL kill according to our neighbours and they are better gardeners than me. Here it is and when pulled out, sometimes the root can be almost a foot long.

It's rather difficult to see properly, but it could be ground elder. Horrible stuff to get rid of as every bit of root left in the ground grows again

I don`t believe in hurting any living thing but Langley B.C. is known as also the capital of the mole population. they are so bad. we went to a nursery one day and bought this mole dinomite stick it does not blow up or kill them but if you light them and place them into an unmessed hole then put a board over top to contain smell and fumes.it smells like sulpher or syanide that jewllers work with, it is highly dangerous to touch or have kids around for at least an hour.it follows the tunnel and leaves a stink down there. we never had another mole come back in 4 years now unbelievable.when my granson and I done this we had on heavy masks as not to smell anything when we use it.it sure did work good.

I had intended putting this on here last week, but kept forgetting it. This has now bloomed out so very beautiful and with two flowers open and another 5 buds. Our first Dahlia of three planted.

One much needed Bird-Table. The other one was in an appalling state and the support snapped like a twig when I tried to lift it out of the ground.

How are your Dahlias doing? I like Dahlias. Mine have not yet started to open.
Little story... I'll never forget the year I had huge beautify tall Dahlias along the back of my house. Well, it also happened to be the year we went to the Humane Society and brought home an abandoned collie/shepard pup of about 5 months. Well, within a matter of days ... my Dahlias were gone ... totally ruined ... chewed and swung about the yard! Well, Sparky turned out to be a peach of a dog ... not sure if I ever forgave him those Dahlias though.
I couldn't really see the weed. Did you ever find out what it is and did you get it out?
