Having moved here in July, I haven't done much to the garden except keep the grass down and weeds away, but sadly I can't do either at present. We have a nice variety of trees and shrubs, with the one below and photographed this morning, a favourite hide-out for Blue-Tits. Many a time I can walk out to place food on the bird table for them all and these little beauties will be in this shrub and wait for me to restock their table without flying off, unless our dog comes near it. The table is just to the right and when I can, I will add more pictures of our garden for you.

This picture was taken through the kitchen window, because on the birdbath, there is a Coal-Tit and who has now become a regular visitor. There are 2 x Collared-Doves on the bird-table.

Standing beside the table, looking to the right, is the scene below, but currently as expected, the grass needs cutting.

I will get some pictures of the front, but that IS in a state. We have a few shrubs in it, plus we'd like a bird-table there as well, but most unfortuantely, there are a couple of very crafty feline creatures around the neighbourhood.

Well you will have plenty to do in the spring then when you are gardening.dont think i would put a feeder up in the front if you have cats on the prowl. I have problems with sparrowhawks carrying the birds off here..They are a flaming nuisance.

I've reconsidered a bird-table in the front after today. I went out to clean our filthy car, our dog was at our front window barking like mad and I thought it was because he couldn't be with me. How wrong I was? He had spotted a cat hiding in the shrubs and trying to alert me of it. Upon seeing it, I picked up a tiny stone and threw towards it and boy, did that cat Run?

This is rhe bad part of nature cats and sparrowhawks and other creatures are hunters. Its not very nice but its out of our control.I must admit i hate seing the birds stalked and killed..even on those nature programmes i hide my face away when that happens.

Hi mikkal. I don't want to appear rude or anything, but is that a gravel garden or have you sown grass / put turf down now? Gravel or stone gardens seem to be coming more into vogue now.
Is that a paeony up by the front door? The blooms seem too big for roses and I think the leaves look right. If it is, then I am very jealous. We have two but neither of them want to do anything, and I think one has died off even.

To tell you the truth, as I said above, we only moved here in July and the garden is laid with small stones/pebbles, but as for the trees, shrubs, plants, or whatever, please forgive me, when I say I am not too knowledgeable with names. I will get a better picture of it when I can, then we can go from there.
It is only in the last 10 years or so, that I have taken a real interest in keeping my garden really tidy and looking neat, yet still to learn the names of many a plant, tree, shrub, or whatever.

I was looking at a house recently with all that shingle in the back garden and decided not to virw the property as it would have meant removing it and putting several tons of soil down as i couldnt live with a shingle back garden. ground force made the shingle trendy/. not sure i like too much of it.. you will just have to get some weed killer on it mikkell as weeds allways come through shingle unles their is a good quality ground cover underneath,,it could make you a lot of work keeping on top of it.doesnt look like you have a cover underneath yours .. kedi will help you with the shrub id when they flower i am only any use at wildflowers/herbs i guess you have some work to do come spring !!!

There is a cover under the stones, but the lady here previously had a dog that tore it, so I am Very seriously considering taking all the stones up and making them into a path between two small lawns and borders. I like colour in a garden.
