Its very tidy glad you never saw my veg plot when i had one., i turned mine into a wildflower meadow ..as we kept argueing about weeding in between onions.. I am not very fond of weeding..And mine certainly wasnt as weed free as yours you are tidy like Dag is .. Anyway good luck with your growing season the weather has to pick up sometime..

Well I've finally managed to plant something eventually.
Onion sets Garlic and Shallots.
Have a look at April on my site if you want to see what I did.
(I know it's not April yet but I couldn't be bothered to alter the March page)

Well my leeks have just germinated. Wow something's actually growing. Snow forecast here all next week. I'm 2 weeks behind last year already but there's no point in fighting the weather. If I plant stuff now It's only going to sit in freezing wet soil and go backwards. I am getting cabin fever though. A mate of mine who lives in the Canaries has just rubbed it in a bit more by sending me a photo of his veg patch. He's got 2ft tall spud plants with flowers on already. Mine are still sat on my window sill !! I promise to have something a bit more exciting to report soon.......hopefully.

Everything is doing so well, it's a pleasure to watch them sprout and grow, Dan.
The gooseberry and currant cage obviously stays as it is the whole year round. Must say it is better than covering them up with a net every year. We bought some wood to make a small cage last year, but never did so. Anyway, I altered that patch about 5-6 weeks ago so can perhaps put a tunnel-shaped cage up this year.
Hey, when your friend's potatoes have finished, then you can rub it in with yours later in the year!

Hey, when your friend's potatoes have finished, then you can rub it in with yours later in the year! The trouble is when mine are ready he'll be harvesting his 2nd lot. I think he can grow them all year round. As far as my fruit cage goes I only made it last week. It only took an afternoon and cost about £25 in materials. The best thing is it's 7 ft tall and I can now walk round my gooseberry bush instead of pricking myself to death by reaching over it like I used to do. They are evil plants..no wonder you hardly ever see gooseberrys in the shops. I'd want £50 an hour to pick 'em

You only get about 50p a bucket if you go gooseberry picking So you would have to pick fast to earn £50 I love gooseberrys my other half removed ours grrrrrrrrrr think it was because i made him do the picking.. I hope to have a small space at the new house for a few fruit bushes as i have many here funny enough Dan nothing ever bothers them the birds take the odd raspberry but thats it the rest remain in tact..

It's all looking good there Dan the Man...I know what you mean about everything being behind last year. We've had a couple of frosts this week so that's knocking my stuff back aswell As for Leeks, the bl**dy cats have scratched mine up again.... Like the fruit cage...there's nothing worse than being pricked by the gooseberries

I can't belive the weather. Just looked at the 10 day forecast and it's only going to get above 10c once and it's going to be about 3c at night here. That takes us into May !!! Don't know whether my anti mouse pea protector will be of any use as they'll probably just rot in the cold before they germinate. I'm now 3 weeks behind last year now. Roll on Summer !!
