175g flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt
- sift together
55g lard or butter, cut into dry ingredients 180ml buttermilk, mix in lightly
- turn dough out on to a floured board - kneed gently for 1/2 minute - pat dough into 1/2 cm thickness - using a 4 cm cutter, cut out 24 biscuits
- preheat oven to 230°C - bake for 10 - 12 minutes
Serve warm

These freeze well. Thaw and then warm up in a hot oven for a few minutes, or in the microwave for about 10 - 15 seconds.
