Hi Gang. I have not been over busy on the forum laterly because of illness over the last two months. On the mend now and will try to come back with a vengence. (if you can take it) First off I have to report on a local event which could have turned fatal. We are glad it did not... A elderly couple of friends of ours house suffered. I shall tell the story in pictures. First picture is where the elderly lady driver came from. Instead of turning left or right she came straight on into the picture. After smashing through the iron gates she continued all the way down the drive On the way she took out the fenching. Coming to rest wedged between the garage on the left and the bungalow on the right The internal wall of the garage on the left has moved about 1inch inside on the crashed wall THe KA I think will be a write off. The lady carmly got out of the car, stated "I feel ok and I`m off home now" After been advised that would not be the best for her she was carted off in the ambulance after having a word with the police. I wait to hear what the outcome will be. At the very least she should now be banned from driving as I hear she just missed a 4x4 as she crossed the junction and also whenever shes out on the road she thinks she owns it. i dread to think if one of our buses was coming aloing that road at the same time. Well there you go. My latest news from the Vale. I`m sure theres more to come. Bye for now.

My goodness she sure did some damage there! I hope that she was insured! That will definitely be her last drive and of course she was so lucky not to be injured or not injuring anybody else! That was exactly the same situation that happened to a neighbour here, a drunken driver came down a road and should have turned left or right and went straight across instead, exactly down an alley way that led to some garages and smashed into a garage and shifted it a bit so that it had to be partly rebuilt. So the moral is never live in a property that is dead opposite another road. Thanks for the info. Robert, great picture coverage.

I think it's definitely time for her to hang up the car keys for the last time, I remember quite a few years ago when driving along a street in Berwick all of a sudden a car shot backwards out of a driveway across the road and through the wall on the other side into some ones garden, luckily there was nobody on the footpath and no one was hurt.
Thanks for the photos Robert, it's a good job nobody was in the driveway at the time

Now I have proof why I have always hated the thought of living in a house at the end of a road like that! So thankful that we don't. I've often read about cars or trucks missing the turn and landing in a garden or even the house, but have never seen such a detailed picture series. Thanks for that, Robert. That woman should quit driving, needs to have her license taken away and take her drivers test again. Glad that nobody was hurt, that could have turned out very badly.
