Gummi Bear Bread (for about a 1 lb loaf)
60 ml water 120 ml milk 1 TBLSP oil 1,5 TL salt 3 TBLSP sugar 315 g plain flour 100 g chopped almonds 100 g mixed peel 1,5 TL dry yeast
Put in bread maker in this order. Set programme to "sweet bread".
This takes about 3 - 3 1/2 hours to bake.
Doing it by hand, I looked up similar recipes on the net and the temp was 180°C / 355°F . Baking time about 35 minutes. If you are not sure it is done, take out and knock on the bottom of the loaf and if it sounds hollow, then it is done.

I'll do it in the machine in the Autumn I think. Do you butter the bread, Kedi? Seeing the weather this week, feel as if Autumn is upon us, then pull myself together and think No, this is still summer but there does seem a bit of a nip in the air at the moment. Arney

Yes, we butter this bread and often put jam on it as well. The one I did for the kids to take along I just sliced and buttered, jam would have been much too messy.
After our small 2x 1 lb bread maker conked out from overwork, the kids gave us their big one that they didn't use any more. It can make loaves up to 1500g (large family type) but since the above recipe would be have been lost in the tin, I now always double the amounts. I'll very likely be making another one in a couple of weeks, probably on a Sunday in lieu of cake for the afternoon coffee.
BTW, it freezes well.
