The first of my Freesias have opened ... The ones in the picture are growing up through a huge scented Geranium and it is their second year ... I did not plant them there. I have also discovered them growing in my Salvia border ... I did not plant any there. So I decided to do some research on whether they seed themselves ... www.ehow.com/how_5990113_control-freesia.htmlWe have decided we will let them seed wherever they want to.

Oh, lucky you, Sis. I wish our garden would get infested with freesia.
I wonder if it is only the yellow ones (the ones that smell best) seed themselves out or all of the colours? I must read up more on the subject.
I'd let them grow wherever they pop up as well.

The Freesias are now opening in the pot by the kitchen door and there is already a heavenly scent wafting in as the sun is on them .... Sis, the self-seeded ones in the Salvia border are now opening and they are white and it is lovely smelling. I brought one in yesterday that was lying on the gravel, it is pale lavender with a yellow throat, again nicely scented. I prefer the rust-coloured ones.
