On my little plant shopping spree the other day, I bought this Coleus which is 80cm tall and quite unique. It was the only one in the garden center. I put it up on GC and on the Exotic Gardening forum and it turns out that indeed it is very unique. I am now trying to get it identified. I've obviously chosen a winner with this one at only €3,30!

How pretty and it really is very unusual. I've never seen one with such leaves before, only with the sawtooth edging.
Hope you get it ID'd. Have you tried Floridata yet?

Just came here to shut down, late for me as we were watching something on the TV, but I have looked at your links Sis and agree with your first observations but the pics are not close up enough to identify. I have put my pics up on Dave's Garden and hopefully I may get an answer.
Shutting down now as I need to take counsel with my pillow.
Sleep tight everyone and speak in the morning. xx

You were on the right track Sis. Rosy Dawn Gardens has it. Apparently like many other plants Coleus have changed their name and I have a Solenostemon scuttellarioides ' Kiwi Fern' being the cultivar ... www.paghat.com/kiwifern.html

That's a real beauty Victoria I remember years ago Ann and Johnnie planted a packet of Coleus seeds and I think every one germinated we had them on every window ledge and all our friends had them as well, but there were non as nice as that one. Alfie

Glad you got it ID'd, Sis. An interesting article and a whole bed or border of them must be a lovely sight. I've seen clumps of Coleus now and then, perhaps 5 or 6 plants together, and they were really pretty, so a whole bed would be stunning.
How nice that they grow in partial or deep shade to produce those leaves. Guess you will keep yours either in the Baffa or on the ledge or bed in front of it when it is always nice and shady?
Will you try to take some cuttings for next year?

Alfie About 5 years ago I planted a packet of Coleus seeds and had a greenhouse full them, ended up giving lots of plants away to the nurses that came everyday to look after our late m-i-l.
