Jaggery Goor
This seems to be an interesting alternative to sugar, whether in tea/coffee or for cooking.
It is natural and completely unrefined and looks like a big slab of fudge.
I discovered it in Sainsbury's in the Indian section.
Have only tried it in coffee so far where I prefer it to honey for sweetening.

As we don't use sugar, guess I'll give it a miss .... sounds very sweet like muscovado.

Victoria, what do you use for sweetener in cooking then?
Arney insists on calling it 'Jiggery Poo' ;D

I don't use sugar in cooking DAG as I don't bake biscuits, cakes, pies or the like. I don't buy them either except for a pack of biscuits once a month or so as I tend to eat muesli bars with my tea in the mornings. For a dessert, should we ever have such, we prefer sorbets. I do always have sugar cubes / sweeteners on hand for guests ... but they don't usually like them in their wine .....
