Looks a nice camera Robert, very nice! It looks very comfortable to hold as well, unlike mine which is thin and fiddly, on the other hand it fits into my pocket, can't have it always! Looks as if you have all the advantages of the old SLR without all the disadvantages especially not having to carry a heavy bag full of lenses! I can just see you heading off very soon to York with it...........have fun Robert and enjoy your camera!

That Leica lens goes to nearly 500mm in 35mm speak, and its got the most amazing image stabilizing..yet to check it out. You are correct in saying a trip to York very soon to visit my favorite photo huants jpeg+raw is something I was also after, plus full manual control is possible. and the HD video it offers seems to be on par with my standalone video camera.

Wishing you lots of fun with your new toy, Robert. It would be nothing for me as I go for the "thin and fiddly" ones, as DAG calls them, that fit in my trouser pocket. It took me and my pocketbook a while before I found just what I was after, but since I found it, I am completely happy. You really mean serious work since you have RAW! Still, with your website, I think you'll get lots of use out of it and all the other functions. Looking forward to seeing some pics soon.

Testing times... It always takes awhile to get to grips with a new camera and one of the first things we do is show off the lens.. So here we go. Three pictures to start with to show the extremes of the Leica lens. First is at a setting of x1 See the aerial in the centre of the picture? Thats our target. This second picture is hand held with full x16 optical zoom. This last is with a long stretching x72 ! This is now a digital zoom but I think you agree looks quite good, and it was hand held! I have been playing with macro as well. more on this in the next post

Still getting to grips with all the functions. One thing I have found in the Creative Movie mode I can select a shutter speed up to 1/20,000 / sec Now thats a bit fast and will freeze must action dead. The scene will require an amazing amount of light for me to get to those speeds. I think I shall be having some fun trying. Thats no typo up there... 1/20000 of a second.. wow

Yes that is rather fast! ;D Perhaps you can catch the still wings of a humming hird or hover fly in flight? That would be a challenge! Glad to see that you are happy with your new toy Robert!
