Sis, could this be the Ginger Plum that you have up on the Deck? The fruit - - the flowers - - just look at these double thorns -

Sorry I missed this yesterday Sis. Yes, it is Carissa macrocarpa, the Natal Plum. Yours appears to be the compact version I had, which I sadly lost the year before last. I would like to get another as they are so attractive. The ones that grow wild in Spain are very straggly and clamber down slopes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carissa

I saw this one, several in fact, at a State Park a few days ago and they were huge shrubs and well tended. I have an unclear pic of one which I'll put up in a day or two. (am rather pushed for time at the moment)
