... in Florida. Found this snake out front this morning. It was about 120 cm long, very prettily marked but unfortunately I don't know what kind it is as I can't find it in my book.

While I am No expert, it looks very much like a member of either the Python, or Boa family to me.

Nice looking snake, comparing it with the brickwork it looks fairly slim.
So its probably very poisonous ;D

I have now found out that it is a Corn Snake, also known as a Red Rat Snake, and it is not poisonous. It is a good snake to have in the garden as it has mice and rats on the top of its favourite food list.
