It does look dry and indeed it has taken me about three years to get it like that. Originally there was a load of broken bricks and rubbish from building the garage. After clearing that lot out I started to use my compost from the dylek to enrich it. All good stuff.

Well done, Robert, and it makes me fancy at having a go at either runner or green beans again this year. They, cooked with a garlic clove and served with boiled potatoes and lashings of butter, are a meal for the gods.

Drat...drat..and double drat.... I was wondering why my strawberry sacks were looking a bit sad. I had my thoughts on what the problem was. This first picture shows the poor condition of the plants. Looking at the root ball we see no young fresh roots growing. Thats another clue to the culprit. Did not take long to find them, The dreaded Vine weevil grub. This is the second year running I have them terrors. The only solution is to dump the lot and hope you have removed them all. What a waste of lots of home made compost.
