Lovely colours Robert and all looks so fine and healthy, looks to me as if you must spend a lot of time in the front garden keeping the weeds under control?

I thought I answered this yesterday, I know I looked at it and said - obviously in my mind only - Robert, your anenomes have been blooming for a long time. The first pic is lovely, the Lobelia with the sun and shade on them. Love it.

Today in my garden.. A lot of good and bad stuff happened in my garden today. It started with me investigating the failure of a gooseberry bush in a large pot. Not a happy plant as you can see, very small fruit and dried greenery. Cheif suspect is the dreaded Vine Weevil... So lets take a look at the root ball. No beetles around but the root ball came out to easy and theres not a lot of new root growth. All signs that weevil is about.. All the compost removed and after a long search I found the culprit. As suspected a lone adult Vine Weevile Solution: bin both plant and compost.. wash out container with Jeyes, refill, and seed with peas for a later crop. Guess theres not going to be a gooseberry crumble this year.. Thats a shame. A fair bit of action on the animal front today.... The frogs are now leaving the pond and facing the big wide world. Caught this fella in the veg plot. Then I spotted and blackbird within a couple of feet of me going for one of the baby frogs. I suppose thats natures way. Then I caught a blackbird under the net covering my redcurrents.. The little devil had found a way in and he knew the way out when I went for him. Then I found this little critter trying to escape from the green bin... It all happens out there folks....

Thanks for the little documentary Robert, very interesting and now I know what a Vine Weevil looks like!
Yes you certainly need to be on your guard at this time of year............my big dread is the whitefly attacking the tomatoes and other things in the greenhouse.

Sorry that ones a little squashed, but I reckon you get the idea. I have some pictures of the larvae somewhere, they really do the damage to roots

I somehow missed these last two postings, Robert, sorry. What a shame about the gooseberry. We never had much luck with ours, so finally gave up after umpteen years of trying. It was busy in your garden with all of the critters and after looking at the weevil, I'm sure I've seen such in our garden at times. Next time I discover any of that ilk, I won't show any pity and squash it immediately. I just LOVE your Livingstone Daisies, what a glorious show! The red and yellow one in the last pic looks like it could burn, fantastic!

This first picture is the runner bean spot, up against the south facing wall of the garage it is a nice suntrap. First job is dig a trench Now time to add some fresh kitchen waste to the trench Now time to break open the Dylek composter and add some fresh compost to the trench Fresh compost added and a final raking. Job done. Time for a cuppa
