Winter honeysuckle is a fast growing, upright shrub which produces tiny white blooms in the late winter or early spring. After the fragrent blooms have faded, small red berries appear. In summer this shrub sits quietly, providing a green backdrop to other more floriferous plants.
Planting tips Cold hardy to zone 5, plant winter honeysuckle in full sun to partial shade.
Suggestions The idea that everything can be improved upon is an exhausting thought but seems to dominate much of modern thinking. I suppose that this is one reason I am drawn to the winter honeysuckle. It is old-fashioned, unimproved, and basic. How refreshing! Of course this says nothing about its incredible fragrance that fills the garden as early as January!
The honeybees love the nectar from its white flowers and on warm winter days it always gives me a smile to see them visiting the honeysuckle in my garden.

This seems to be a good addition to most any garden and is easy to grow as well. I've made a note to look for it here.
