I managed to get hold of a couple of packs of these today. Its Polianthes tuberosa, they are not always available, but I find its the most nightime, summer fragrant, plant that is relatively easy to grow. I wouldn't recommend it as a house plant unless you have the sunniest of window sills, but in a greenhouse or conservatory the scent is very strong. It can be so strong that some people think its too much, but I find it amazing. Its a lallish leggy plant but worth a try.

They are gorgeous, Pete! I've made a note of the name, shall see if I can find them in Florida.

Ideal for Florida I would think.

I've never seen them either, Pete, but they look lovely. Would it be too hot and dry for me? ... Sis is hot but more humid in Florida.
I've looked them up on the net and see they are from the Agave family, how strange. I have had perfumes in the past that have tuberosa as one of the ingredients.

I think they would do very well with you Victoria. Maybe in pots perhaps with some shade in high summer, and watering.
The main problem here even under glass, I find is overwatering, so I'm sure you would stand a good chance.
Perhaps late spring flowering with you?
