We saw this yellow blooming Buddeleia in Cyprus. We'd never seen one this colour before but my sister, who lives in Portugal, said that friends of theirs down there have one too. So it must be a Mediterranean cousin of ours up here in the north. It was just beginning to bloom and I am sure it must be a glorious sight when all of the clumps are open and basking in the sun. Oh, and the flowers smelled slightly of honey.

Kedi, it comes with two names originally Nicodemia Madagascareinsis but more frequently known as Buddleia Madagascareinsis. As it does come from Madagascar it is unfortunately not hardy in Northern Europe.only taking an occasional light frost. Smoke bush and Yellow Butterfly bush are the common names and yes the Med is an ideal climate for it, or in a greenhouse here.

Yes, - me, too, Strongy! I did take a clipping of it and have potted it up here, have it out in the Wintergarten now with a couple of other things from Cyprus, but I don't really have any hope of it rooting, never mind blooming.
