These yellow Oxalis are in bloom everywhere in the Algarve at this time and are a really beautiful sight. They bloom in the sun - - in semi-shade - - amongst rocks - - even between the sidewalk stones - - and the leaves look lovely with dewdrops or rain on them -

I think that first picture is quite stunning and Arney said she thinks that they are as lovely as a field of bluebells in England!

Great photos Sis ... I'm sure Pete will enjoy this as I 'accidentally' sent him a couple of bulbs with something else a few years ago .... I agree with Arney that they are sort of the equivalent of the bluebells ... but really would prefer the bluebells myself. I actually unwantedly have some doubles as well ... they are very pretty. They are now an 'invasive species' here ....

Yes thats right you did send me some of these mixed up with iris corms I believe.
i've not had any flowers on the iris yet, but I think the oxalis has died out, it is perhaps fairly frost sensitive.
They look very nice flowering as they do there in large amouts, but I can understand the problem. I have a small oxalis weed in my garden with tiny purple or pink flowers, its a real pain and almost impossibe to get rid of.

Yes, Pete, I was horrified I put some of these in the package with other things ... thankfully they may have died by you ... it could be frost sensitive since it comes from Africa.
Speak to you soon ..... xx

These are quite common on the Scilly Isles as well, a rather invasive weed I seem to remember one local lady telling me on the boat over there unfortunately I didn't get to see any in flower as I went over in August (I think...=]) and they flower in May there although i did see lots of leaves and can only imagine it to be very pretty when in flower
