Thats one big tree Kedi, do you know how old it is? The biggest treeI know of round these parts is the Capon tree which is close to the side of the road near Jedburgh in the scottish borders, it is reputed to be from 400 to over 1,000 years old and was supposed to be used as a meeting place for the Scottish clans and was also used by monks to shelter on their way to Jedburgh abbey Here's a link for more info www.a2jlp.co.uk/photos/capontree.html

No idea how old it is. There are actually quite a few huge trees looking something like this one scattered around this whole area but I thought this one was exceptionally big. I think they might be some sort of oak, shall see if I can find out.
I seriously doubt that it is anywhere near as old as the one you gave the link of, Alfie. That is really an amazing tree and a wonder that it is still living with the trunk split like that! Interestering article, thanks for the link.
