I bought this small fig tree yesterday in the garden center of a DIY. It only cost $10 and is about 35cm tall.

There are figs on it already, Linda. You can see one on he LH branch and there are 4 or 5 on the branch leaning against the garage wall.
On the instructions, it says that it fruits twice a year, early summer and in the autumn (main crop), but if that really happens ..........
We have two fig trees at home. One in the Wintergarten and one in the garden. The one in the Wintergarten grows like mad, we chop it back every year, shall try to dig it up and plant outside when we get back in November, or in the spring. It has fruited now and then, but they are small. It is planted in the ground, that is why is grows so much.
The one outside (actually belongs to Kedi Junior) was planted out last year and it seems to be doing well and has fruit on it. However, there is not enough sun to ripen the fruits so guess they will just fall off or freeze on the branch. This one is still small, about 150cm tall, as it was in a pot in the Wintergarten for some years.
Perhaps we'll have more luck getting fruit over here as there is enough sun.
Did you notice the fig trees in Turkey? Lovely big shady trees, hope mine does the same here.

Peter weeding the bed before removing the almost dead Crape Myrtle tree to make room for the little fig tree - Here it is in it's new home and with an anti-weed ring around it, which was around the Crape Myrtle tree. Must still put some mulch on the ring.
