Thanks for the lovely comments everyone, I think it's the best butterfly photo I've ever hsd, normally they fly away before you can get close to them but this one just sat there

Alfie, your butterly photo has kick-started me into painting again, as you have always said I can use your material I have already made a start and I am experimenting with different media.

I can't see your photos Alfie, but here is a Painted Lady I encountered a couple of weeks ago on the Lantana and I have never seen one here before (sorry, the photo seems very pale) .... Whilst here and in PB, I'll put up a couple of other nice ones I have ... The Monarch on my almond tree .... A Swallowtail on my Bougainvillea ... A Scarce Swallowtail on my Lantana ... I must say I haven't really seen any butterflies this year except for the Whites.

Ah, lovely! I remember that second one, it caught my eye when you posted it on GC. The colours are beautiful and sharp, really stunning.

I couldn't see your original image yesterday Alfie, seemed to be a PB problem? Looks fine now though and your second view looks fantastic as well!
Victoria, nice collection there, really like the Monarch as well, lovely composition!
Linda thanks for sharing, seeing the buddleia bush reminds me of when I tried to capture butterflies in my father's garden years ago and the slightest breeze was a problem! ;D
