I am ashamed to admit that I don't even like to look at snakes, and to make matters worse my youngest grandson now wants a Corn Snake for his birthday!

Does Will want the cornsnake from you and Arney for his birthday, DAG? If so, don't forget to put a pretty bow around its neck before you give it to him ;D ;D Oh, that was naughty of me, couldn't resist it though. Sorry DAG.
I can imagine it suddenly wiggling giving you a fright, Linda, it would have given me a fright, too.
I don't mind looking at them, but I of course, I was glad that there was glass inbetween them and me, most of them being poisonous. Do you remember the pic of me with a python around my neck though?

Had I been told years ago that I would lose my fear of snakes, I would have laughed.
I never feared them, I was PETRIFIED of them until the day I had TREMENDOUS Pleasure of stroking a Real Tiger and came out, going on to stroke a Boa Constrictor, LOSING all fear of them, then since having my photo taken with a Large Python on my shoulders. I have even handled a Cousin's Corn Snake.
