Just catching up here. That is the sort of soup I love, and it does freeze very well. When I make anything like this, I always do a large potful and then freeze one or two portions, so saving time and electricity. When heating up one of the portions, I sometimes add a good dash of cayenne pepper (or something similar) to give it a zing. Or add some grated carrot for a crunchy colour topping. Linda, I agree with DAG, that is funny - does the parsnip soup taste better with or without parsnips? ;D ;D ;D Your idea of using sweet potatoes sounds good though, not keen on turnips.

Mrs.DAG made the parsnip soup yesterday and I must say that it was very nice. We did in fact use parsnips, ha ha and kept to the recipe and blitzed it, but I added some curry powder as we are in the habbit of doing that with our butternut squash soup.

I often add chilli sauce Mr Dag but am sure the added curry powder had been nice to.

Hello scotkat, I am Mrs.DAG and have just registered on here to keep an eye on other half! ;D We thoroughly enjoyed your parsnip and pear soup, only put 1 pear in and plenty of parsnips. It was lovely and thick, just how we like it and mighty tasty (DAG's intervention)!

Looks great, Linda, and am sure yours looked and tasted just as good, arney/Mrs DAG. Not seen any parsnips over here and no doubt the season will be over for them by the time we get home in June. A very warm welcome to Mother Earth Mrs DAG, it's lovely to have you on board
