Well this year, apart from growing veg. in containers, I might try and stuff a few veg. plants in between other plants and see how it goes.
Growing Veg. in patio containers........let us know how you get on and post in here?

These are all from seeds kindly sent by Victoria in Portugal and have been the most amazing and fastest growing that I have ever known, and looks like virtually every one has germinated! Sorry, but I do not know the name yet, but I am sure they are going to be interesting and something different to grow this year.

You are well ahead with your tomato seedlings, DAG. Looking forward to seeing how they all progress and what sort of crop you harvest.

Everything looks great, DAG, and how neat it all is, too. Even down to those nicely printed labels.
It will all be well away by the time you can put it outside mid-May.

Hi kedi, the plants will have to take care of themselves while I am on holiday, I remember I lost quite a few last year! The labelling machine was a birthday present 3 years ago and I would not be without one now as they are so convenient and additive, a real joy to use! Also they are permanent, I am now reusing some that I made 3 years ago and are as good as new.

Hope you don't loose any tomatoes this year. If they all fruit like the ones in 2007, then I think you will have to buy a new deep freezer after all ;D
I have never heard of a labelling machine but it sure seems to be a very handy piece of equipment when you have a lot of different seeds sown.

Looks great, DAG I do admire people that get things to grow from seeds and wish I had the same luck.

I don't do anything kedi, I let nature do it all, all you have to do is provide the right conditions and for that I made this heated propagator bench by getting a cable heater kit and placing it in a sandbox about 4 years ago. It is 7 feet long. To buy a load of ready made heated propagators would cost you a fortune and you would have a plug and socket problem.
Luck only really comes into it with the watering!

Since DAG hasn't shown us how his plants are doing in the greenhouse for a couple of months now, I'll post up a couple of pictures. Just look at how tall and healthy the tomatoes look and you can see a red peach tree at the left front - I especially like this photo showing the greenhouse, part of the garden and the Johnson's Blue Geranium making a lovely colour splash -

Have now picked the first lot of tomatoes (if I ignore Lilly's contribution) the front yellow ones being the Sungold...probably the tastiest tomato there is and the red ones behind are from Portugal (seeds kindly supplied by Victoria) and are so far I think the best performing tomato plants I have grown, with a nice fruit although a slightly tougher skin than the Sungold. None of the Gartenperle in hanging baskets are ready yet.
