Late last night when I let our dog out into the garden, he made straight for one area and put his nose towards the ground. With the security light shining, I was able to see a rather young hedgehog, that he wanted to play with. I grabbed a thick pair of gloves and picked the creature up, spoke to it like I do all of them and then gently placed it over the fence and hopefully out of danger. Because of its age, had I had somewhere warm for it to stay, I would have kept it, then taken it to a rescue place this morning.
I find them adorable little creatures, despite the fact they tend to be riddled with fleas and regardless of what some 'Experts' lay claim to.

Yes, me too. We had one in the garden this summer, it came several times. I'm sure I posted a picture of it eating cat food next to our neighbours cat. While on holiday in Turkey recently, I saw this sign that I'd like to share with you other hedgehog lovers -

That's a very good link with lots of tips. We must get one or two hedgehog houses made for next year, I'd love to have one or two sort of settle in our garden.

Just added this to favourites. There is a Rescue Centre not far away from me, but sadly, I have nothing to keep one in.

Just seen a Hedgehog today this Morning in the back Garden, it was really big, more so than i thought they were. I never knew we had them so near because we live near Urban land and never seen them before, so i was really excited, ;D
It ran past the Garden shed and into next door, i think he may be living in a pile of logs the neighbours have there.

That is early in the year to see them about. Probably the crazy weather made him wake up early, hope he manages to find something to eat.

I just saw a hedgehog in our garden and managed to get two shots of him - Here he is next to the water butt - - and here is is hiding between a compost bin and the neighbours fence - I think I'lll make a hedgehog house in this corner of the garden. He'd be nice and safe there and could get to it from two directions.

We normally get Hedgehogs visit our garden, then our Rusty Loves to try playing with them as if they are a ball and get their spines in his mouth, so I have to get my gardening gloves on and lift them over the fence to safety. I have never managed to get photographs of them, but then I am generally too concerned for their safety from Rusty. It is now so long ago, I can't recall exactly when we last had one in our garden. I feel they are Beautiful creatures.

Having seen Martin Clunes programme last night, I have since learnt that Terriers as such, do have a tendency to 'Go for the Kill' while 'Playing with their Prey' as I recently called it.

Here's one I recently 'saved' and picked up. Not a brilliant picture, but it was a live one. I 'saved' another last night and bigger than this one.
