When I was young, I only ever saw any Owls either in books, or on tv, but these days, they are plentiful and I Love to see them. Up until we moved back in July, we had an Owl in trees nearby, but could never get to see it. We also used to drive along one road on a weekly basis and 9/10 times, we'd see at least one Barn Owl. One week we were astonished to see three in the same locality.
Since we moved to where we now are, we have Owls again in nearby trees, but can't get to see them. On Thursday and mid-late afternoon, I was approaching a sharp bend in the road while on my way home and a Barn Owl flew very low towards our car, so I slowed down to avoid a collision before it landed on the grass to the side, just about 6ft away to catch a mouse. Had I been a bit quicker in slowing down, I could have pulled into a nearby lay-by, grabbed my camera and possibly taken a photo of it. This Owl was a Beauty.
