I like Mahonies for three reasons - first the evergreen leaves, then the yellow flowers which the insects like to visit in the spring/summer, and then the blue berries later in the year.
Glad you have put it on your list DAG, or I would have put it on for you ;D
Thanks for posting it, scotkat, and giving us ideas for DAG's "new" garden.

Oh ... I don't know this Mahonia. I don't believe I've every seen it around my parts. It is lovely though.... big and bold. The flower is very interesting. Does the flower have a strong scent?

Not to much of a scent but so pretty I uses this a lot in arrangments and add to Xmas wreaths.
