I cut a piece a bit bigger than the stone and peel back the bottom two layers, leaving a very flimsy, top layer:

Then I put cheap clear glue on the stone and leave it to set just a little for about two minutes:

Then, I lay the flimsy top layer of serviette gently on the top. And just gently, with fingers only (no cloths or rags) pat it to get out the bubbles

I leave that until it's almost, but not quite dry. I turn it onto my palm and trim off the excess. I then leave it to dry completely. I then go through the same process on the other side. There is a little excess paper and when its almost dried, I run some clear glue around the edge and mould the wet edge like paper mashey (how to spell that?) with a finger like so:

That is left for say 12 hours. Then press in palms until warm, this helps to get the last minute wrinkles out. It's ready to polish. Three coats of Japlac clear usually seals and weather proofs it

Hi JC I have used stones to label my vegetables beds over on the allotment but I have to confess I didn't lacquer them looks like I will have to make some new ones for next year and lacquer them next time! I do like your flower ones very cute.Hel.xxx.

Helen I took and used your idea and collected the :)stones for my veggie bed. Still to paint and lacquer them.

Yes, the laquer (japlac clear) weatherproofs them. Scotkat, I hear you do crafts so come on over to koolcrafts anytime
