Thanks Shadow, just wish I had had more time on this trip, but next time for sure.

I think this is a Monach butterfly having a rest. It fluttered it's wings a couple of times and this is when I think I recognized it as a Monach.

Thanks DAG and Robert.
I got a Holly Blue this afternoon, also with some honey bees on the Golden Rod. Shall put them up tomorrow when I get them uploaded.

Oh, I never put the Holly Blue and the honey bees up, must see if I can find them. While I was out in the garden for a breather earlier on and taking pics of flowers, this butterfly happened to land right next to me. The pic isn't really good but I was so pleased that I managed to get a couple of shots before it flew away as the camera was still on.

Sometimes its just nice to be able to catch them on camera even if it isn't a perfect pic. Love the close up in the top pic.

We picked some Elderberries this afternoon and while sorting through them, I found this chappie in the bucket with the berries! It is an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar. for the ID Strongy. xx Sorry I moved around while taking this video -

This is the same sort of butterfly as at the top of this page, reposted here - I found this one in the house, and looking a bit worse for wear, on one of my Dad's paintings, and because the colours were so alike, I almost didn't notice it - I took the painting down to photograph it and then carried it out to the Wintergarten for a few more (unclear) shots -

This Io Moth caterpillar (Automeris io) stung Peter in the garden yesterday with it's poisonous spikes / nettles. He experienced some pain for a while but after a couple of hours it was gone.
