For many years since early childhood, until some ten years ago, I was scared of snakes. The kid next door to where I was born and lived, always said that if a snake bit you, you died. I grew up with that fear for literally years and well in to my adult life before losing my fear in seconds. A Mate and I were visiting a Wildlife Park where I was allowed into a cage to stroke a Real live Tiger, another Love of my life. As we left the enclosure where they were caged, we were walking along and saw youngsters stroking a Boa Constrictor, and I went Cold. My Mate made his way towards it, with the intention of stroking it. I looked and realised it wasn't harming the youngsters and so why should it harm me, when after all, the keeper had it round his shoulders? In less than a minute I too was heading towards it and immediately I touched it, my fear simply disappeared. I had that phobia for far longer than I really needed to have had. Since that day, I had actually had a Python round my shoulders, held 2 x Corn Snakes and walked within inches of a Grass Snake before realising it was there. I have also visited a couple of Reptile Houses at different venues and there was just glass between them and me. Me stroking the Real live Tiger and it was just 11 weeks old, but don't have nightmares looking at me.

The long-promised pic of you stroking a live tiger, mikkel! Very nice, and also nice to meet you finally, too. The tiger cub is cute and you are not the stuff that nightmares are made of. ;D When I was about 3, we lived in Canada, and I have a vague memory of bringing a snake home. My parents were not amused, Dad picked it up with a stick and put it in the nearby woods. I wore a live python around my neck about 12 years ago in Sri Lanka. The pics are here somewhere.

Re the picture, I have now got rid of the 'slug' from under my nose and according to friends, I look 10 years younger.

I quite like beards and mustaches if they are kept tidy. I thought yours looked fine.
