Just a little pond ... I'd love to expand someday. I'm so jealous of Kedi's water lilies.... I've got two small Koi ... and several gold fish swimming about in there somewhere.

It might be small, Jeanne, but it is very pretty, well laid-out with those stones (I am now jealous!) and planted nicely.
Is the grating to keep cats or the fish heron away from the fish? The fish heron kept getting all of our goldfish and orfes, so we gave up in the end.

I started with a 5 foot pond years ago and now my pond is 20 feet long. Like us you will get the bug to have a bigger pond.

Thanks guys..... someday it will get bigger, but not right now.
The bamboo grating is to keep out the raccoons, possum and herons. We've had all three in the yard and we don't know which ate our fish. There were several feedings before we put the grate on. We had one fairly good medium sized gold koi named Elvis who was somebodies meal, made me cry cause "Elvis had left the pond"................
Normally much of San Jose doesn't get all those critters, but we are near the base of the foothills and near a major creek and reservoir ... so ponds in the area are just extended feeding grounds ....... lol..........

Well it maybe a small pond to you Jeanne but mine is even smaller I think! But I don't have any aspirations to make it larger. In fact it is such a mess at the moment that I won't even show a photograph of it! Ha ha!
I never had any fish in it so don't have those problems but one of my daughter's dogs keeps falling in it!
Thanks for sharing!

We've added more fish .... I'm saying a prayer .... hopefully the grate will discourage the raccoons .... but if we get any long billed feathered friends ... could still be trouble... ;D
