Thanks, I hate tidy gardens too. Got frogs and newts in pond within a fortnight of putting it in, when i turned it from a kids garden to mine 3 years ago. Entire garden cost under a fiver, and is still a work in progress

I like your garden too, HC. It is what I would call "tidy chaos", and what I would like too but Hubby prefers the tidy-tidy sort. Since he does nearly all of the gardening ................
The frogs and newts appeared very quickly in your pond, they must like the little nooks and crannies around it to hide in.
I can count 5 bird feeders in that big tree (what is it BTW?) and then the free-standing bird feeding house, plus the bird house in the tree. You must be way ahead of all of us.

I have a very old cooking apple tree, pies and crumble galore in late summer early autumn. I have to have that much food up in the tree or the starlings have it all their own way There are few other places for them around where i live because most people seem to love 'concrete'

There is by far, too much land that has now been concreted over. near to where I was born in Essex, they want to build 1,000+ houses on Green Belt. I will find a picture of the area that I have an place it on the forum for you all to see. It truly is Beautiful and the Council want to build on it. UGH!!!

Since it is a cooking apple tree (lucky you!), please try out my Advent Apple Cake next time the apples are ripe, HC. It is posted in the Recipe section, under Desserts, Cakes and Breads.

Everything is looking good, HC. You are further along than we are over here. I haven't even sighted a frog or toad yet.

Well the frogs have been really busy this week, saw 4 pairs together in my pond on Fri night and they have been very busy. Here are a few pics of the result of their getting togther Something tells me theire is a tad too much spawn for my pond to sustain, survival of the fittest me thinks over the coming months.
