I spotted a very pretty Camellia while out walking in Shanklin Old Village, it's quite a large plant (or I should say tree as it had a trunk =]) with pink saucer sized flowers. I've had ago looking through some books however I'm pretty terrible when it comes to identifying Camellias as they seem to be like fungi in that depending on when you see them in flower they appear to be any number of species/cultivar so I was wondering if anybody could lend a hand?

Sorry, I don't know anything about Camillias, Aesculus, except that they are gorgeous and surprisingly even come through the winters in our part of Germany.
The one you have discovered is just beautiful and I do hope someone can ID it for you.

Very nice flower, its the kind of camelia that I prefer, the flower being a good formal shape and fully double. I think there are far to many scruffy looking ones around ;D
Cant help on the ID Im afraid but would be interested to know myself.
