I'll collect some seeds and send them to you all if you like. Just let me know.
I don't think you can compare the two of them, Alfie, as a flowering cherry is a beautiful sight, each one is just different. But I do have to agree that a large and spreading Flamboyant in flower is a sight to see.
I guess they bloom for several weeks, DAG, but I have never really checked, shall try to make a point of doing so this time.

They are beautiful Sis. Pete and I 'won' a seed each from miraflores a couple of years ago. We both got them germinated but mine decided to die on me but Pete's kept on going ... do you still have it Pete?

I lost mine first winter Victoria, even in my conservatory.
I think the light levels are just far too low, even if you can provide the warmth.
Plus the mess of falling leaflets everywhere.
Just out of interest I lost the Erythrina, which I grew from miraflores seed, this winter. I could kick myself, it was forming a nice looking small tree. I think I left it out to late into the autumn, consequently it was too wet at the roots when the cold struck.

Here are the seedpods from a Flamboyant tree that I picked up the other day. Some of the seeds were obviously no good any more but a couple looked OK, so we will plant them later today and see what comes of them.

While over at the kids house today, I picked up some of the pods from under the across-the-road-neighbours trees and they are really giant pods. We had already sowed some of the ones we got a couple of days ago, but we'll sow some of these new ones tomorrow as well.
