Thanks, Pete, now I have it sorted out which is which, and the lily bit has been chopped out. I wonder how that started in the first place

I dont know how it started Kedi, not 'Canna lilly' anyway.
'Calla lilly,/ 'Arum lilly'' has, I think, always been the accepted common name for Zantedeschia, plus a few others related to the same family.

OK, I have changed the name of the thread to "Cannas" and everything from now on will say just that. Just all the inbetween postings still say "Canna lilies". Do you want them all changed? If you do, then go into "modify" and as the Tropical Moderator, you can do it yourself now. ;D
Skype tomorrow at 6/7, is that OK, Sis?

Sorry, I didn't think it would cause all this trouble.
I thought we were just discussing the common name, I had no intention or suggestion that the thread was wrongly named.

Pete, nothing to do with you ... I have been 'harping' on to Sis for a long time about Canna vs Calla ... it was my suggestion it be changed ... that way Sis can't physically see the word 'lily' ;D ;D ;D

No problem at all, Pete, and I'm glad we have finally sorted out which one is which. Also, since neither is actually a lily, it is good that the word has finally been deleted.

Lovely, the yellow one is so sunny, and hope the orange ones take, Sis. The speckled one is like the ones in both of the Florida gardens.

I've started a few canna seeds off this week.
Not one I've tried before, its a species, Canna warscewiczii, its not large flowered apparently.
But its very fast germinating, some are up in 5 days, which has surprised me.
I will now have to find room for the seedlings, I was not expecting this problem for two or three weeks yet, so with the weather turning cold again next week it will be a struggle.

Oh, Pete, sorry, I can't believe I didn't answer you last month ... I'm being an ostrich again... but thank you a bit belatedly (is that a word?) ....
Yes, I had a few seeds but sent them to a couple of folk on Exotic. I did get some orange ones back which I've not even started yet.
I could send you a couple of the orange and I desperately need to split my plants so a couple of roots if you'd like?

I hope ypu dont think I was fishing for seeds Although a couple would be nice I must admit. I do know you sent some to Bob and a few others last year and they seemed to have good results. I'm only just getting back into Cannas after about 5yrs due to all my plants getting the virus. I bought a few tubers a couple of years ago and they appeared virused, (is that a word), from the first leaf so I dumped them.

Okay, Pete, I'll get organised in the next week as we should be dry and I'll try to split my plants ... then they will be winging their way to you ... I'll obviously tell you in advance so you can expect them. I just love Cannas and hopefully they will come into their glory again.
