I see what you mean by the slabs, yes that makes a nice raised bed, I think if I had the space I would do the same. My soil is heavy clay and not good for growing carrots so this year I grew a very small variety in buckets in the greenhouse under the bench and it was successful, but the carrots were a bit small really so might try a larger variety next year.

I want to grow different carros a bit bigger not sure which type to get also going to try parsnips.
Hoping to have a bit of veggies.
When we first built our house did start a veggie area tatties but did not get a good crop so we gave up .
But now I have 2 greenhouses and want to make the most of them.

Lol Kath my little carrots were only slightly bigger than yours but just like you I was so pleased with them just growing I really didn't care how small they were. Although saying that I'm going to give our allotment site's monster carrot grower a run for his money next year1 ;D
I found a quick scrub and a top and tail the little'uns were wonderful left whole in stews.Hel.xxx.
