Thanks Linda and DAG.
After I had taken some photos, I carefully encouraged him to get off and on to my hand. Then he jumped off and scuttled into the garage under the car.

Certainly looks a fine friendly fella, what are they like to handle, will they scamper away if you try?

No, they are not easy to handle at all as they don't let you get close enough to catch them. We often find one or two in the pool cage and it is my job to try to catch them and put them back out into the garden. They are amazingly fast and can take great leaps. I catch the smaller ones with my bare hands but there was a large one last week and I put my gardening gloves on to catch it. Peter and I have both been nipped by large ones. I had a dreadful fright about a month ago when I caught a smallish one - it threw it's tail off in my hand and it still wiggled. After I got over my fright, I felt so bad about it. This one obviously likes it in the cage (or keeps loosing his way) as I've seen him a couple of times in there again. Noticed that his tail had started to grow and on the last time, it was about half as long as the original one again, albeit very thin. Then there is a large lizard who lives out front near the garage and I see him every now and then. He lost his tail and never grew it back, it is a real stump. So perhaps it is true that they can only do this once and not a second time.

I rescued this lizard out of the pool cage yesterday and, for my trouble, he tried to take a bite out of my hand for his lunch!! Even when I opened my hand, he still did his best to bite a lump out - He finally let go but still sat there for a bit just looking around - Please excuse my broken nails and the paint on my fingers! I had been painting the skirting boards in the garage - ended up not only with messy hands but with a backache as well.

Thanks DAG, Alfie and Linda.
They really are cute, especially the small ones. There are no end of them in this garden and I love watching them scampering around, making amazing leaps up, down and across (have to see it to believe it!) or just sunning themselves.
