So sorry, but I keep the date on my camera for other photos, so try adjusting this one Dag? lol! The wording at the bottom says: Southend Pier 1.4 miles long (2256m) was first built of wood and opened in 1830. The reconstruction was completed in 1889 at a total cost of £80,000. During the second World war, it helped defend London in the Battle of the Thames and was the assembly point for the sailing over of 3,000 convoys, consisting of 84,000 ships - including part of the D-Day Armada. The battle of normandy with the subsequent Liberation of Europe had the Pier playing a big part in the victory. It has survived a serious fire and damage by ships and storms... Southend-on-Sea can be proud of its "Longest Pier in the world". It took precisely an hour to complete this jigsaw, seeing as there are only 300 pieces. I still have another of the same and sealed.

Mikkel: My main aim with the tiger jigsaw was to straighten it up so that it was not so distorted. While I was at it I just thought it would look better without the date. ;D The view above is taken from the middle of the Thames estuary looking back to Southend and Westcliff on Sea, unfortunately there is part of the left hand side missing with the above picture and although Photoshop is good in many ways, magic is still not an option and it cannot put back info. that was not there in the first place. I don't think the date on the bottom mattered in this case as words are above it anyway and it is well clear of the picture, but I have tried to do as you suggest. BTW, I did see the pier from that angle once when I was about 10 and we left the pier on a pleasure steamer to Clacton. On the next journey it made, according to the local papers, it got stuck on a mud bank between Southend and Clacton (an area known as Maplin Sands where there was going to be another London airport built back in the 70's).

Hello mikkel, you must have the patience of a saint with the way you work your splendid jigsaws! Have you been doing them many years? Best wishes to Yvonne, how is she now? Arney

Hello Arney, and thank you so much for the compliments. I have been doing jigsaws since childhood and currently, I have around 100 of them, including two more that I picked up today and already completed, photographed and now in SE Essex thread. I have always found them to be very theraputic when stressed.
Regarding Yvonne, I am sorry to say she is back in hospital and had another 1.6 litres of fluid drained, then had some reaction to the treatment, so they are keeping her in, while they had hoped to allow her home again just today (Wednesday). While Yvonne is gutted, I am Fuming, because she does NOT deserve it all.

So sorry to hear about Yvonne having to have more fluid drained, Mikkel. I'm sure she didn't deserve this, nobody does, we can only keep praying and hoping for the best. Please give her our love and very best wishes. xx

I am Extremely pleased to say, Yvonne came out of hospital today and so tonight, I sat watching tv and doing another jigsaw, just so as to be with her. Yvonne has now gone to bed, while I popped on computer for an hour or so. Thank you sincerely for the good wishes.

For the second time, I will try posting a reply on here. (I got disconnected for No reason.)
Last night, I finished the latest jigsaw, but not before realising I had done this one before, so not photographing it.
Earlier in the evening, I had gone to one of our sheds for another reason and found another 3 jigsaws I need to check are complete. ;D

With so many jigsaws, you should perhaps keep a little notebook with the names and dates of when you did each ones, Mikkel.

With so many jigsaws, you should perhaps keep a little notebook with the names and dates of when you did each ones, Mikkel. It is another reason for the dates on my Photographs. I do keep them in My Documents, as well as on forums, for this reason.
