These white tiger cubs were born in Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo on October 4th 2008. They were given the Indian names Kali (boy) and Durga (girl). They have brighr blue eyes, pink noses and chocolaty brown stripes.

White tigers originate from Bengal tigers, but they are not albino or a seperate subspecies. They are born to tigers that carry the unusual gene needed for the unique coloring. The Bengal tiger is native to the jungles of India.

Lovely to watch them playing like that, excellent, well done kedi, and in such difficult conditions with having to cope with bright sun and glass reflections! :D :D

It was on the news here too, just awful. I didn't catch if he had been cleaning the pen and didn't check if the tiger was still in there or not. I assume that was the case, and it has happened so often. It does make me wonder how those keepers can be so careless in this respect.

You be very careful, Linda, never forget that they are wild animals and can turn in a second. Remember what happened to Roy of Siegfried and Roy a couple of years ago?

But knowing me, I'd probably pet one if I had the chance too.

I honestly ENVY you Linda. They are SO Majestic and their fur, SO smooth. Seriously, if I could have one for a pet, I WOULD. I HAVE already stroked a Bengal, but then it was only a matter of 11 weeks old and in its own cage.
